Hi everyone
I have List & Label 13 build 15 on my PC. When I go to preview a document, the ‘Send via
Fax’ button is greyed out. I have MS Fax installed on my PC (as well as one other fax
software).
Does anyone know why this happens?

Hi,
I think that you have the button deactivated.
The Button ID can be found in the file menuid.txt
And review your code.

This happens when
a) there’s no MSFAX installation (which you have, so this is not the
case)
b) There’s no fax number (or formula) given in the designer (open
project, look at the project property list, “fax variables”) - for LL
to be able to fax directly to MSFAX, you need some destination
information (fax number) here. Or - if the number is passed in a
variable, what most likely will be the case, then you enter that
variable here.
c) This can also be done by the project’s default parameters or my
defining it by the API - but most likely you want (b) as solution 
If the fax button still is not working, either the variable is empty
(then there’s no number again!) or we need to think further. But
first, enter a fax destination into the project, and test.

Just for info, I think it was an ‘error’ at my end. Sorry.
MSFax is installed on my PC but I had forgotten that the fax device that I use with it
is a standard analog modem that I no longer have attached to my PC since we had a change
around in the office.
So the question now is slightly revised…
Can LL be set to fax through other programs automatically in the same way MSFax is being used?

That depends on the fax program. The fax applications I know (WinFax,
Tobit, …) use some sort of hidden text (white color) with a key (for
example “@@Recipient”) and the fax number, name etc. You need to look
at the documentation how this is expected by the fax application you
want to use.
