Possible Printing Problems Caused by Windows Updates from June 2020

Problem

Microsoft released Windows updates for the current client and server operating systems in June 2020, which appear to cause problems on certain systems. In this case, the print could not work or even the entire application could be terminated unexpectedly, which can also lead to data loss.

The creation of PDF documents using the PDF software printer driver from Microsoft may also be affected. The error has already been confirmed by Microsoft and the updates for the Print Spooler service have been identified as the cause.

However, since List & Label makes extensive use of the Windows printer system, the print functions of List & Label may also be affected.

Microsoft is aware of this problem and is already working on a solution. For more details, see the release notes from Microsoft at the following link: Print spooler might error or close unexpectedly when attempting to print

Workaround

The only way around this behavior is to uninstall the update KB4557957 (Windows 10 Version 2004) or KB4560960 (Windows 10 Version 1903).

As soon as we have new information on this, we will inform you about it via this channel.

UPDATE
In the meantime, Microsoft has apparently been able to resolve the described behavior in another update. For more details, see the release notes from Microsoft under the following link: Print spooler might error or close unexpectedly when attempting to print

Note
However, it is important to note that the necessary update is not automatically distributed via the Microsoft Windows Update Service, but must be obtained and installed manually.
Depending on the version of Windows 10 and Windows Server used, there are different patches for this. Please follow the respective instructions from Microsoft:
