I suggest to implement the following feature:
Please add sorting in the designer for JsonDataProvider/SchemaAwareJsonDataProvider/XmlDataProvider.
With Oracle etc. this already works.

The challenge here is that the objects reading the data don’t support sorting on their end. We might be able to work around this using the in-memory technology we already have in the product.

Actively working on it.
This will be released as a feature for version 29. Also supported are native aggregates and native filtering.
